Bariatric Surgery Changes Lives

Charlie and Julie

"We just wanted to share our happiness with all of you! Dr. Barker literally saved our lives and gave us a new beginning. Because of our new lease on life, Charlie and I have both found new energy, direction and re-prioritized what's important. We each even started our own business!! There is no way we could have or would have even fathomed to do something like this prior to surgery. One of the main reason we chose to have the RNY was because of our children. We can now RUN and PLAY with them. I don't believe our children will ever truly know the over whelming joy it gives us to be able to interact with them until they grow up and have children of their own; however, the fact that we now have the opportunity to look forward to grandchildren is wonderful!

Charlie and I are your walking advertisement. Any one who talks with us about our weight loss and is considering the surgery themselves, we tell them our story and refer them to you. Please share our story with any one who wants to know or is just curious. We want to spread the word about Dr. Barker and the many lives he saves including ours.

THANK YOU!!!!!"

"They say life is what happened when you're busy making other plans... well, my plan was to come right home on March 22, after seeing Dr Barker, and write a testimonial, and well, its April 15th! I'm sorry. That's how great my life is though because I have the energy and zest for life I'd lost before. Before, weekends were for napping and catching up on the things I didn't have the energy to do all week. Now, I've got enough energy each night to run those errands that I spend weekends having fun with my son. Before, just making it through the day was enough. The fact that I can pick up my 9 year old son from daycare and say let's go to the park tonight, just out of the blue, is amazing.

I started my journey March 13, 2006, at 303 pounds. I didn't have any major health complications due to being overweight (which was from age 13 on) but I knew at age 33, it was just a matter of time before I did. Since then, I've lost 153 pounds - more than I currently weigh. The day I lost over 1/2 of me was a fantastic one. I was at a meeting and my boss, whom I told earlier in private, asked if she could share and everyone cheered for me. It was a snapshot moment in life for sure. I went from a size 30/32 to a size 12. And I'm still losing! I recently went to a store and couldn't find any of the pants I wanted in a size 12. When I asked the salesgirl why, she said that size 12 was their most common size. I screamed - I'm COMMON!!! She looked at me like I was nuts but I just wanted to stop and cry. None of this could have been possible without Dr. Barker and his incredible team. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and I knew I was in the right hands. Earlene took very good care of me, always taking time to answer my unending questions that I'm sure she hears everyday. I can't thank you all enough for all that you've done for me.

I had a good life before, but I have a great life now. And it’s because of you all. Thanks so very much."

"Dr. Barker and his staff are incredible! They made a scary, life changing event a wonderful experience. From the very first phone call I made to the office, they have been professional, helpful, and most of all, caring. I would, and have, recommended Dr. Barker to my friends and family! My LAP-BAND® surgery was October 30, 2006 and, as of today, January 31, 2007, I have lost 32 pounds. The encouragement, support and education I have received from Dr. Barker has greatly contributed to my success!"
